Guwahati is a city in Assam, northeastern India. It is spread under 328 area square km, with a population of 11.2 lakhs approx.

It is mainly famous for the Kamakhya temple situated at the nilachal hill. the official language is Assamese and English. one of the top sites to visit in Guwahati is Peacock Island, and this name was kept by a British officer for its structure which he thought resembled the splayed feathers of a peacock.

Guwahati is situated on the south bank of Brahmaputra. Recently the government has announced a ropeway over the Brahmaputra to open soon for the public.

once this gets started then the travel time between north Guwahati to south Guwahati will only take around 7 minutes. so this will also attract more tourists towards a beautiful place in Assam, India. this ropeway will cover a distance of approximately 1.8 km.

In a single cabin capacity of the ropeway is 30 passengers together can travel across river Brahmaputra. It is a proud moment for the city that they will now have the longest ropeway in India. This is the first ropeway in the state, and this project was undertaken by the state government.

The Brahmaputra river in Asia, called the Yarlung Tsangpo in Tibet, Siang/Dihang River in Arunachal Pradesh and Luit, Dilao in Assam. The length of this river is 3,848 km.

The Brahmaputra flows 1800 miles through Tibet, India, and Bangladesh. It starts from the Himalayas in Tibet and moving forward 704 miles and at shuomatan point river bends and enters India crossing the Assam valley.

This project was started by Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority and it is also said that it was a dream project of Assam Finance minister. so if you stay in India then, you must surely take the pleasure of this ropeway and also some of the other places to see in Guwahati, and if you are planning to visit India then definitely its a must see the place in Assam.
